On Friday, March 17, 2023, the Bocholt City Library, together with the library in the Bonhoeffer House, invites you to a reading with the well-known journalist and author Christine Westermann. On the occasion of the "Night of the Libraries", a "Wissen macht Ah!" hands-on reading for children will also take place on this day. Advance ticket sales for both events have started.

During the "Night of the Libraries", numerous libraries in the country will be open until late in the evening and invite visitors to take part in activities related to reading. In addition to a colorful supporting program, two readings will take place at the Bocholt City Library.

Christine Westermann talks about her "life in books".

This time in Bocholt, bestselling author Christine Westermann will be there. She will read from her book "Die Familien der anderen" (The Families of Others) at the "Night of the Libraries", chat from the literary sewing box and answer one or two questions about personal reading experiences. Which books did she grow up with, which are still closely linked to her life today? Why was she blindsided when she was asked if she would like to make book recommendations for the radio?

Together with the library in the Bonhoeffer-Haus, the municipal library was able to bring the successful author to Bocholt. Visitors can look forward to an entertaining evening. The event, which is offered in cooperation with the VHS Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg, begins at 7:30 pm. Admission is from 19 o'clock. Tickets are available for 10 euros at the municipal library, the continuing education center and the library in the Bonhoeffer House.

"Knowledge makes Ah!" participatory reading in the afternoon program

Children can also look forward to something special this afternoon during the "Night of the Libraries": Dr. Doris Medlewitsch, known to many as the author of the popular book series "Knowledge makes Ah!", will be a guest in the Children's and Youth Library. The author of the well-known non-fiction series will explore unusual everyday phenomena together with her audience. The participatory reading is suitable for children between the ages of 8 - 10. The event begins at 3:30 pm. Admission is 3 euros. Tickets are available now at the public library.
