Awards, honorary citizenship, town plaque, ring of honour
"Honour to whom honour is due": This well-known saying goes back to a quote from the Apostle Paul. It means that those who deserve recognition should also receive it. An encouragement against false modesty.
The city of Bocholt recognises special merits and exceptional commitment through various honours and awards. Whether honorary citizenship, a ring of honour or a city plaque - these awards stand for gratitude and appreciation towards people and institutions who have rendered outstanding services to the common good and the reputation of Bocholt in a variety of ways. Regulations on this are set out in the statutes on honours (see download below).
There are also various orders of merit from the Federal Republic of Germany, usually called the Federal Cross of Merit , and Orders of Merit from the state of NRW.
