Renovation of cycle paths in Bocholt begins

Improving lanes for cycling // Four measures in the urban area

The city of Bocholt is starting extensive renovation work on several cycle paths and roads at the beginning of November. The construction work is aimed at improving the transport infrastructure and increasing safety for cyclists and pedestrians. To begin with, the cycle paths on Meckenemstraße and Willingsweide will be renewed, followed by other sections in the city area.

Bocholt will begin renovating several cycle paths and the carriageway surface of Willingsweide road at the beginning of November. The planned work, which is intended to help improve the infrastructure and road safety for cyclists, will see four different cycle paths renewed. The work will start tomorrow, Tuesday 5 November.

The first work will begin on Meckenemstraße, where the carriageway surface of the outer and inner cycle paths will be renewed in sections. The starting point is between Bärendorfstraße and Hohenzollernstraße. One lane of Meckenemstraße will have to be closed to motor vehicles for the work, while cycle traffic will be diverted via parallel roads. Pedestrian access to all neighbouring properties will be guaranteed during the construction period.

The work will then be shifted to the inner section of Meckenemstraße and extend to Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße. Depending on the weather, five to six working days will be scheduled for each section, with residents being informed of temporary restrictions on access to their properties.

Work on the cycle path between Rhede and Bocholt

On Wednesday, 6 November, the renewal of the cycle path on the section between the Rhede city limits and Rennsteig will also begin. The route will remain closed to traffic during the daily construction periods, but will be reopened in the evening and at night.

In view of the short construction period of around three working days, no official diversion will be set up; road users familiar with the area are asked to use alternative routes.

Also from 6 November, a section along Hemdener Weg between Alffstraße and the sports club car park will be resurfaced. Cyclists and pedestrians are asked to use the opposite side of the road for the two planned working days.

In addition to the cycle paths mentioned above, the carriageway surface of Willingsweide will also be renewed. This work will begin tomorrow, 5 November, and is expected to last three days. During this time, the area will be fully closed to motorised traffic, while cyclists and pedestrians can use the parallel path north of Willingsweide.
