New boules lanes in Bocholt

At Borussia Bocholt's club grounds // Club, Euregio-Gymnasium and the city of Bocholt are delighted with the new offer

Bocholt now has another opportunity to play boules. Two lanes have now been officially opened on the club grounds of Borussia Bocholt. Not only club members, but also private individuals can use the facility by prior reservation.

Following the joint idea of the local sports club B.V. Borussia Bocholt 1960 e.V., the neighbouring Euregio-Gymnasium and with the support of the city of Bocholt, new boules lanes were completed on a previously almost unused side area of the municipal club grounds. The official inauguration was celebrated with a symbolic first match. The Borussia Bocholt sports club and its board member Frank Voltan were responsible for coordinating the planning and execution of the project. The city of Bocholt supported the work in particular by providing materials and technical advice.

"It is a wonderful gain for our association, where we have contributed to the successful realisation of the project with a lot of our own work", emphasises Foltan. "We can now offer our members another attractive sports programme and develop it further. And external interested parties also have the opportunity to use the tracks."

Booking the boules lanes

In future, Borussia Bocholt will make the lanes available to its members, but companies, individuals or other communities outside the club can also reserve and use the boules lanes. Enquiries can be sent by e-mail to info(at)borussiabocholt(dot)de.

The neighbouring Euregio-Gymnasium is also enthusiastic about the new opportunities: "We are very pleased to be able to offer boules as part of our sports programme in the form of study groups", says headmaster Jan Bernd Lepping. This gives the pupils the opportunity to get to know this "traditional sport better and to actively practise it".

The city of Bocholt, represented by Jürgen Mecking and Thomas Boekhorst from the sports administration, is also delighted: "Boule is in vogue. The facility is an asset for the entire sports city of Bocholt."

What is boules?

Boules is a ball game similar to boccia. The ball is thrown with the back of the hand facing upwards rather than the palm of the hand. Players must remain in the throwing circle until the ball has landed on the ground. The aim is to throw as close as possible to the target ball.
