New citizens' meeting place in the cemetery neighbourhood

Citizens' evening for residents on Friday, 21 October, 5-7 p.m. in the parish rooms of St. Paul // Plans for the neighbourhood meeting place and results of the citizen surveys will be presented // Ideas workshop

The Bocholt cemetery district is to have a new neighbourhood meeting place in the former drinks shop "Melis" on the corner of Dortmunder Straße and Breslauer Straße. In future, the meeting place will be open to young and old, organised on a voluntary basis and provide various offers and services. Local residents are now invited to contribute their ideas for the design and services of the new meeting place. A catchy name for the neighbourhood meeting place is also being sought.

A citizens' evening will be held on Friday, 21 October, 5-7 pm in the parish rooms of St. Paul (Breslauer Straße 24), to which all interested parties are cordially invited. Registration is not required, admission is free and there will be drinks and a snack.

Background: Surveys and interviews were conducted in the cemetery neighbourhood in the summer. How can life in the neighbourhood be further improved and strengthened, what are the wishes, where are the problems? Around 300 people took part. The results will be presented at the citizens' evening.

In a workshop, participants will then be able to think about what offers and services could be provided in the new neighbourhood meeting point in future. Suggestions can be made in five categories: Communication and exchange, counselling and support, exercise and sport, play-fun-creativity as well as culture and education. Working groups will then be formed to deal with further implementation.
