Lecture on Iran at the Media Centre

The journalist and media educator Bernd G. Schmitz will be a guest at the Media Centre (Alter Bahnhof) on Tuesday, 14 March, starting at 7 pm, and will present his lecture entitled "Welcome to Iran". In impressive pictures, personal encounters are combined with anecdotes to illuminate a large number of the provinces of the multi-ethnic state.

The Federal Foreign Office is currently issuing a warning against travelling to Iran. Since September 2022, since the violent death of Jina Mahsa Amini, the country has been in a special state of emergency. In addition, the Tagesschau confirmed a few days ago that there is almost weapons-grade uranium in Iran.

But beyond the political debate, there is also the country itself, its landscape and civilian population. The lecture deals with these - and also shows the beauty of the country. It is a very personal lecture from the point of view of a traveller who is intensively involved in the life of the Iranian community in Cologne and who had the opportunity to look behind the tourist facade of the multi-ethnic state in Iran!
