FW Bocholt: Fire brigade extinguishes burning roof truss
FW Bocholt (ots) -
The roof truss of a residential building caught fire in the Dinxperloer Straße area. Two residents suffered minor injuries, one of whom was transported to hospital in Bocholt.
On Friday evening at 21:00, several emergency calls reached the Bocholt fire brigade's operations centre reporting flames and smoke in the area of a roof truss directly on Dinxperloer Straße. The full-time fire brigade and the Bocholt volunteer fire brigade were alerted immediately. The scenario was confirmed as soon as the first firefighters arrived, and there were also reports of people in the affected building, so the incident commander raised the alert to "fire, life in danger".
On site, firefighting was immediately initiated by two teams wearing breathing apparatus with two jet pipes and using the turntable ladder. The people affected were already outside and could be treated directly by the emergency services. A total of two people suffered slight smoke inhalation. In the further course of the fire, the emergency services had to lay an extinguishing water supply over several hundred metres to support the extensive extinguishing measures. The fire was under control at around 00:00. The fire brigade continued to extinguish the fire throughout the night. The extinguishing measures prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the terraced house complex.
In total, the fire brigade and the rescue service of the city of Bocholt were deployed with 15 vehicles and 90 firefighters.
