"60 Years of the Elysée Treaty": Multimedia event attracts great interest

The multimedia journey through time entitled "60 Years of the Elysée Treaty" met with great interest among the members of the Franco-German Society and their guests. The keynote speaker was the well-known political scientist Ingo Espenschied.
Heiner Böing-Messing, Vice-Chairman of the Franco-German Society, gave the welcoming address. The event was supported by the Franco-German Civic Fund.
The speaker
Ingo Espenschied studied international politics in Paris, Mainz and London and is considered an expert on European relations. His DOKULIVE production "60 Years of the Elysée Treaty" is dedicated to the development of French relations over the centuries in an interesting and vivid way.
The subject
Ingo Espenschied made the audience aware that the Elysée Treaty is in a very special way the culmination of the reconciliation of Germany and France, countries that had been enemies for centuries. This reconciliation is "an important building block of the House of Europe. In this respect, the treaty is still relevant after 60 years.
The lecture was followed by a panel discussion with Sven Volmering and Leo Heßling as experts, in which the guests from the audience actively participated. Both Franco-German relations at the political level and civic commitment in the area of town twinning were the subject of discussion.
