St Martin's procession through Bocholt city centre

On Monday, 11 November, the traditional St Martin's procession through Bocholt city centre will take place at 17:15. Around 3,000 children from various schools will follow St Martin on his horse with self-made lanterns and the classic runkel torches.

The children will be accompanied by numerous volunteers, teachers and various music groups.

The route of the St Martin's procession and further information can be found at www.bocholt.de/martinszug. Spectators are invited to follow the procession from the roadside and support the children as they sing. At the end of the procession, all children will receive a Martinmas bag filled with fruit, biscuits and a sweet treat in front of the historic town hall.

The St Martin's procession in Bocholt has been organised since 1910, making it the oldest St Martin's procession in Westphalia. It is organised by the Verein für Heimatpflege e.V. in cooperation with the city of Bocholt.

Traffic information: Closure in front of Liebfrauenkirche

In connection with the St Martin's procession and the obligatory closure of the procession route, the city council will take the opportunity to repair damaged paving in front of the Church of Our Lady. Langenbergstraße will be closed between Ostmauer and Wesemannstraße from 8 am for this purpose. During the work, traffic on Wesemannstraße will be open in both directions and pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to pass through the area.
