Exhibition and lecture on mental health
Monday, 9 September, at "LernWerk" Bocholt // VHS semester start linked to district-wide action month "Mentally Healthy 2024"
The Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre (VHS), the Bocholt Family Education Centre (FaBi) and the VHS support association are inviting you to the "LernWerk" Bocholt for the opening of the semester on Monday, 9 September. This time it is in conjunction with the district-wide "Mental Health Month 2024".
The opening of the photo exhibition "Faces of Depression" with works by Cologne photographer Manfred Jasmund and the lecture "Marathon of Life" by Stephan Kamps are part of the event on 9 September.
39 events throughout the district
The joint semester opening at "LernWerk" Bocholt (Industriestraße 1) is linked to the start of the district-wide campaign month "Mental Health 2024", which is organised by the Department of Psychosocial Health of the Borken district together with the VHS Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg and numerous other cooperation partners. From 9 September to 10 October 2024, the focus will be on the topic of "mental health" in the Borken district. The aim is to arouse social interest and provide a wide range of information on the topic of psychiatry at a total of 39 events for the public and specialist audiences during this period.
Kick-off at "LernWerk" Bocholt
At the beginning of the semester opening, on 9 September at 5:30 pm, photographer Manfred Jasmund will introduce the photo exhibition "Faces of Depression" with an entertaining intro and take interested parties on a tour of the foyer. With his pictures, he makes the mostly hidden illness of depression visible in an impressive way and illustrates how many facets this illness can have.
Afterwards, Stephan Kamps from Bocholt will give a talk entitled "Marathon of Life". According to Kamps, running a marathon once in a lifetime is a goal that drives many people. But beyond that, there is another marathon, invisible and yet omnipresent: the marathon of life. This race represents the challenges that people face in life and the way in which they overcome them. As with a physical marathon, the marathon of life requires a mixture of endurance, determination and the will to cross the finish line - in this case not as the first, but as a happy and satisfied person. With this in mind, speaker Kamps gives an inspiring demonstration: life itself, like the marathon, is a valuable gift that must be accepted and appreciated.
The event will be accompanied by young musicians from the Bocholt-Isselburg music school.
