Two men - One car - One mission. An adventurous story resulting from a crazy idea. In fact, one of the main protagonists of this extraordinary story is a small car, a Fiat Cinquecento, christened Luigi.
When the two photographers Martin Buschmann and Gereon Roemer sat together one evening, Martin talked about his native Sicily. Born and raised on the island, he still remembers the trips with Luigi, the family car, to the beach and the volcano Etna. When the family later moved to Germany, they took the car with them. It has been in the garage ever since. Luigi is not just any car, he is a Fiat 500, built in 1967, an Italian legend. And the most important thing: Luigi still runs! And suddenly the two of them have an idea: "Let's take Luigi to Sicily, Luigi has to go home!"
After thorough preparations, a crazy idea becomes reality. When the three of them finally set off, they have no idea how long the journey will take. Several attempts are necessary to reach Sicily, because Luigi is an old-timer and technical breakdowns are the order of the day. At the same time, little Luigi, dressed in the national colours, is a real heartbreaker, someone who opens doors and gates. People on the street wave to him and time and again Luigi facilitates personal contact with the Italians. Through Luigi, the two men strike up conversations with many people and get to know the soul of Italy.
In an extraordinary travel documentary, which has just celebrated its premiere, the two presenters now invite you to follow their adventurous road trip - spiced up with a good portion of "Dolce Vita" and "Bella Figura". The multivision with live commentary combines scenic, historical and culinary highlights of Italy, the country of longing, with entertaining stories about the hardships and moments of happiness of such a journey. High-class photo impressions presented on a large screen and interspersed music passages make the whole thing an audiovisual experience.
