A defibrillator for the Bocholter LernWerk

Device donated by Volksbank Bocholt // Location in the entrance area

On the occasion of the nationwide Resuscitation Week, Volksbank Bocholt has now handed over an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the Bocholt LernWerk. The life-saving device has been installed in the entrance area of the LernWerk and is available there at all times in the event of an emergency.

The handover took place in the presence of Björn Volmering, First City Councillor of the City of Bocholt, and Bernd Kleine-Rüschkamp, Team Leader Communications at Volksbank Bocholt. "It is important to us that the population of Bocholt has a good supply network of defibrillators", says Kleine-Rüschkamp. "It's fine for us if they are not needed, but if they are needed, they should be easy to find - especially in places where there are a lot of people", he says.

A defibrillator is used to provide rapid assistance in an emergency in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. The device analyses the heart rhythm and, if necessary, delivers an electric shock to restore the heart to a normal rhythm. Operating an AED is simple and intuitive, even for laypeople: once switched on, the device gives clear instructions on how to use it, so that even inexperienced users are able to take life-saving measures.

Björn Volmering emphasised the importance of the campaign: "The health and safety of our citizens is very important to us. The location is ideal, many hundreds of people pass by here every day."

An interactive map is available on the website of the city of Bocholt, which provides a comprehensive overview of the publicly accessible locations of other defibrillators in Bocholt. Detailed information on how a defibrillator works and how to use it is also listed here.
