Traffic regulations and market relocation for the Bocholt funfair

On the occasion of the Bocholt funfair, there may be traffic obstructions and congestion from Tuesday, 15 October at around 20:00. The traffic routing and traffic lights will be changed in the area of the Meckenemstraße/Westend/Dinxperloer Straße junction and also at the junctions along Meckenemstraße. Meckenemstraße will be fully closed between Hohenzollernstraße and the Westend junction.

Passage permits for residents | Meckenemstrasse bypasses

Residents of Meckenemstraße and visitors to the doctors' surgeries can only access the Meckenemstraße area by car with a transit permit if they are coming from the direction of Shopping Arkaden. Stadtmarketing Bocholt has already distributed residents' parking permits. The Meckenemstraße area from Bärendorfstraße to Westend may only be used by emergency services from the police and fire brigade. Drivers who are familiar with the area are requested to avoid the city centre area and use the bypass roads. The closure of Meckenemstraße will be lifted again on Tuesday, 22 October at around 18:00.

Traffic obstructions | Car parks

In the past, there have been traffic obstructions in the side streets due to parking offences. This made bus traffic considerably more difficult. It was sometimes impossible for emergency vehicles from the fire brigade to get through. It is therefore requested that you only park in authorised parking spaces. In order to avoid problems with the police or the towing service, visitors arriving by car are requested to use the centrally located car park "Am Nähkasten" , the car park of the Shopping Arkaden, the underground car park of Stadtsparkasse Bocholt and the car park at Liebfrauenplatz.

Bocholter StadtBusse | Special timetable

The StadtBusse buses will be running extra shifts for the funfair between 18 and 21 October 2024. All lines will run at the usual 30-minute intervals (line C13 every 20/40 minutes | lines C7, C8 and C11 every 60 minutes) until late at night. Separate notices at each stop in the city centre and separate timetables on www.stadtbusbocholt.de draw attention to the additional service. In some cases, there are even additional vehicles. To get to Bocholt from the Münsterland region, you can take the S75 from Münster via Borken to Bocholt, the R51 from Coesfeld via Borken, the 64 from Wesel and the 61 from Rees, the RE 19 - Rhein Ijssel-Express and the "Baumwollexpress X80" from Bad Bentheim via Gronau, Ahaus, Vreden to Bocholt. However, there is no additional offer for the fair on these lines.

Guarded bicycle parking spaces | Low fee

Visitors who cycle to the funfair can park their bikes safely for a small fee at the following bike stations: in the car park of St. Josef Church, at the Liebfrauen rectory (Langenbergstraße), at the Maria Montessori School (formerly Diepenbrock School on Europaplatz) and at the "Haus des Burgers" (Westend). At these locations, the bikes will be supervised by the A-level students of Kapu Gymnasium, the scouts of the Association of Christian Scouts, the Liebfrauen altar servers and the staff of "Haus des Burgers", which has worked extremely well in previous years.

Weekly market relocation

The weekly market will take place from Thursday 17 October up to and including Tuesday 22 October on Liebfrauenplatz.

Kinodrom diversion | signposting

During the funfair, the Kinodrom car park can only be reached via a diversion. The cinema diversion will be set up on a large scale and will be signposted from all directions!
