Roof of Bocholt City Library to be renovated
From Monday, 16 September, until the end of October // Temporary restrictions in library operations possible
From Monday, 16 September, construction work will begin on the zinc cladding of the roof of the Bocholt City Library building. The library can be used as usual during the construction phases, but there may be temporary restrictions in individual areas.
Firstly, the façade of the "Bücherturm" will be fitted with scaffolding before the actual construction work begins. A new roof covering with aluminium cladding is planned. For reasons of monument protection, it is planned to preserve the old colour scheme and shape as far as possible. Completion of the work is planned for the end of October.
The construction work is part of the building maintenance and one of the prerequisites for the further transformation of the library into a "th place", i.e. a public meeting place away from work and family life. "The refurbishment of the roof will enable us to further improve the quality of stay for our readers and make the library fit for the future", says Melanie Tenhumberg, technical director of the city library.
Use of the library possible at any time during the construction work
Access to the library and use of the services will be possible at the usual opening times throughout the construction work in the roof area. Nevertheless, restrictions are possible at times, as bookshelves under the roofs being worked on will be covered with a film as a precautionary measure. These areas will therefore only be partially available or not available at all in the short term. All interested readers can stock up on media until 21 September before the actual construction work begins.
Information on which areas may only be available to a limited extent can be found on a daily basis on the Bocholt City Library website and on the library's social media channel.
