Varian Fry Quartet
Chamber concert
The younger generation of the Berliner Philharmoniker also cultivates the Philharmoniker tradition of playing chamber music alongside the orchestra. In 2013, Marlene Ito, Philipp Bohnen (both violin), Martin von der Nahmer (viola) and Rachel Helleur (cello) founded the Varian Fry Quartet, named after the American journalist and freedom fighter Varian Fry. Since then, the musicians have been delighting audiences with their concerts at home and abroad.
The programme includes works by Mozart, Debussy and Brahms.
