Reading is fun! Reading aloud is too!
Basic training for reading mentors
Books and stories open the doors to fascinating worlds for children and are wonderfully suited for playful language and reading promotion. Children need books - and they need reading mentors who read books to them or tell them stories and pass on their own enthusiasm for reading.
As a reading aloud mentor, you can also read in senior citizens' facilities and reminisce with seniors, sing songs together, ponder over old proverbs, exchange experiences.
The following topics will be covered in a practical and vivid way during a one-day workshop:
- My role as a reader
- Why is reading aloud/telling important?
- Yes, but what, how and where?
- Which books or texts are suitable?
- For which target group do I read what aloud?
- How do I create an interesting reading session?
- How do I react in case of disruptions?
With practical exercises and answers to the question "What can a playful reading promotion look like?" or "How can I enrich a reading session for the very old with small activities", the participants prepare an exemplary reading session. An accompanying book exhibition invites you to browse.
The seminar is aimed at all those who would like to volunteer to read aloud regularly in a day-care centre, primary school or senior citizens' facility and will be led by a speaker from Stiftung Lesen. All participants receive a certificate after the event.
As a reading mentor, you will be placed and accompanied in the above-mentioned institutions according to your interest.
In addition, we offer free prevention training on the topic of "Abuse of power and sexualised violence" as well as regular exchange.
Registrations are also welcome by telephone on 02871-23948-0.
