The programme is presented in English. The programme is presented in English, and the narrator's manner and body language make it much easier for the audience to understand the stories even without extensive knowledge of foreign languages.

Rodan strips ancient myths such as Cain and Abel, Samson and Delilah and King Saul of their religious connotations and revitalises them in the light of his personal life experiences in modern Israel He falls in love with his first girlfriend, is jealous of his brother and is rejected by his father. As he gracefully shifts from salty humour to moments of great depth, he uses the stories to reflect with the audience on universal themes that are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago.

As outrageous as these stories may sound to our modern ears, is there hidden wisdom in them?

The storytelling is accompanied by recordings by singer-songwriter Erik Sjøholm, all with a hint of Leonard Cohen in the air.

Raphael Rodan (1980, Jerusalem, Israel) Raphael is an award-winning theatre maker and storyteller. Since moving to Amsterdam, he has created several successful storytelling shows, including "My Father Held a Gun", the winner of the 2017 Amsterdam Side Programme, about the nature of war. His work has received international recognition and has played in theatres and festivals across Europe. In addition to writing and performing, Raphael also teaches storytelling. In 2014, he co-founded the Mezrab Storytelling School with Farnoosh Farnia and Sahand Sahebdivani. Since 2018, he has been working with Sahebdivani as artistic director of the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival. The festival's vision is to combine the ancient art of storytelling with the most pressing issues of our time.
