Maik Goth and Murat Kayi have been a duo since 1990 - which means nothing other than that they already had their guitars with them in class when they were at school to make music together during the short breaks.

Those who have been tuning in to each other for so long and who also share a fascination for the music of Dire Straits must sooner or later come up with the idea of turning this into an evening-long programme. Even if it is not an obvious thought to condense the sometimes quite complex music of Dire Straits to just two instruments.
Not only conventional guitars are used. Dire Straits connoisseurs will be familiar with the resonator guitar from the album cover of "Brothers in Arms". Maik Goth and Murat Kayi use both this and a special type of guitar: the steel guitar or dobro. With this selection and two voices, the two musicians manage to dust the eighties off the numbers and bring out underneath what these pieces have always been: first-class songs. In doing so, they don't shy away from any album and from any hit, no matter how atmospherically multi-layered. Why should they? They have fun and pleasure and a lot of skill in what they do. An evening with the two musicians is perhaps the next best thing to a real Dire Straits concert, because here they don't imitate - but celebrate and revel with passion! Murat Kayi is a musician, author and cabaret artist. He presents the Liederlounge Live on WDR radio and was on stage for many years with the Geierabend in Dortmund. Maik Goth is a musician, author and freelance lecturer. In 2022 his debut album "Polaris" will be released by RetterdesRock.
