First of five events as part of the European LUX Audience Award

Tickets are available free of charge at the Kinodrom online: https://www.kinodrom.de/reihe/S6/Lux_Publikumspreis or at the box office.

The LUX Audience Award has been organised by the European Parliament since 2020. Bocholt is taking part for the first time in 2024. Citizens are invited to vote on the five nominated films. Half of the votes will be included in the final result for the film award. Participants can win a ticket to the award ceremony in Brussels.

The film series starts on 19 January with "20,000 species of bees", 125 minutes, FSK 6, Spanish with German subtitles.

The film "20 ,000 Types of Bees" by Spanish director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren tells the story of eight-year-old Lucía, who cannot live up to the expectations of those around her and does not understand why everyone sees her as a boy. She spends her summer holidays at her grandmother's house, where she keeps bees. There she explores her gender identity together with the women in her family, who at the same time reflect on their own femininity.

Following the screening, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt will be available to answer questions about the evaluation.
