The tobacconist

Play based on the novel by Robert Seethaler, performed by the Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss.
It is 1937, shortly before the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany. Franz Huchel, just 17 years old, leaves the tranquil Salzkammergut to apprentice in Vienna with the war invalid Otto Trsnjek in his Traffik, a shop selling newspapers and cigars. There, Franz can hardly grow up as quickly as the world around him demands.
The message: resistance and humanity are possible.
