"SeptemberKunst" was a complete success
Finissage of the cross-border art exhibition at "LernWerk" Bocholt
This year's cross-border exhibition "SeptemberKunst" in the neighbouring Dutch municipality of Aalten and in Bocholt was a complete success: more than 40 artists from Germany and the Netherlands exhibited their paintings, sculptures and graphics in the foyer of the "LernWerk" Bocholt.
Art brings people together on both sides of the German-Dutch border - this became clear at the finissage, which was attended by numerous visitors.
In addition to art lovers, families and the curious also came to the "LernWerk" in Bocholt to view the sculptures and works. Musician Xandra Storm from Aalten in the Netherlands provided musical accompaniment with her barrel organ. The Dutch mayor of the municipality of Aalten, Anton Stapelkamp, and the deputy mayor of the city of Bocholt, Elisabeth Kroesen, also took the opportunity to attend the closing event.
Talks with artists
The exhibition was first shown in the Netherlands, in the Koppelkerk Bredevoort and various studios in Aalten. It then travelled to Bocholt.
"SeptemberArt" again in 2026
"It's incredible to see how many people are enthusiastic about art presented on the German-Dutch border", said Jule Wanders, Head of the City of Bocholt's Department of Culture and Education. And Mayor Stapelkamp summed up this cross-border collaboration: "The feedback was consistently so positive that we would like to present "SeptemberKunst" together again in two years' time." Bocholt's Deputy Mayor Kroesen was delighted that "SeptemberKunst" could take place in the newly opened LernWerk Bocholt. She is also in favour of holding this cross-border exhibition in Bocholt and Aalten again in two years' time."
Funding from the Euregio
The cross-border exhibition "SeptemberKusnt" is organised in the neighbouring Dutch municipality by the "Stichting Art Aalten". In Bocholt, the Bocholter Kunst- und Kulturgemeinschaft e.V. is also involved. The "SeptemberKunst" project is made possible by the Interreg programme Germany-Nederland and its programme partners and is co-financed by the European Union (EU).
