European elections: City is looking for election assistants
Around 500 volunteers are needed for Sunday, 9 June
On Sunday, 9 June 2024, the European elections will take place in Germany, in which the members of the European Parliament will be elected for a term of office of five years. To ensure that the election runs smoothly, the city of Bocholt is relying on around 500 volunteers on this election Sunday, according to the city's electoral office.
A prerequisite for the honorary office is that election assistants are eligible to vote; they must therefore be at least 16 years old.
In Bocholt, around 58,000 eligible voters can cast their vote in the European elections. The Bocholt electoral office will set up 48 polling stations. Voting by post will also be possible again.
An electoral board will consist of eight people. Polling assistants hand out the ballot papers, for example, ensure that the election is conducted properly and count the ballot papers later. Polling assistants are trained by the city of Bocholt in the run-up to the election. They receive a refreshment allowance of 50 euros for their work on election day.
The election will take place on 9 June from 8 am to 6 pm. The electoral boards will meet at 7.30 a.m. in the allocated polling stations, as close to home as possible. At this time at the latest, arrangements are made for the morning and afternoon shifts. The time required is therefore less than it appears at first glance.
The postal ballot boards meet at 3 pm. From 6 p.m. onwards, the election boards will jointly determine the election results.

Registrations for election assistant work are accepted by the Bocholt electoral office by e-mail wahlamt(at)bocholt(dot)de or phone 02871 / 953-2111.
