University delegations from Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Bocholt
Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff welcomes guests from the neighbouring town of Vlora
The Westfälische Hochschule - Campus Bocholt has two new partner universities from Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina. These include the University of Vlora Ismail Qermali Albania, which is based in the city of Vlora. The city of Bocholt signed an official declaration of friendship with Vlora in 2022. The second university from Bosnia-Herzegovina is the University of Vitez. The cooperation between the three universities is supported by ERASMUS funds.
Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff received the delegations from all three universities. The Chairman of the German-Albanian Society Bocholt e.V., Brahim Krasniqi, and the Deputy Chairman, Agim Ramaj, were also present at this reception.
Official reception organised by the city of Bocholt
The Vice President of the Westphalian University for Sustainability and International Affairs, Prof. Dr iur. André M. Latour, represented the Bocholt University. From the University of Vlora, Mayor Kerkhoff welcomed the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Institutional Development, Prof Enkeleit Mechili.
The project coordinator for Erasmus+ projects, Prof Dr Tihomir Latinovic, came with two other representatives from the University of Vitez. Together, the guests and hosts discussed the city of Bocholt and their home municipalities. At the same time, they developed initial ideas for future cooperation.
Building friendly relations
The delegations spent a day in Bocholt and, after the official reception, took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the LWL-Museum Textilwerk Bocholt as part of a guided tour. Mayor Kerkhoff and the representatives of the German-Albanian Society Bocholt e.V. were delighted that this official cooperation between the universities in Vlora and Bocholt is helping to build up relations between the two municipalities.
