Boundless Horizons at the Kunsthaus Bocholt
French women artists show pictures from their homeland
A special town twinning event in July is the exhibition "Horizons sans frontière - town twinning inspirations". The two French artists Martine Versange and Eliane Grognet will be showing their works at Kunsthaus Bocholt, Osterstraße 69, from 20 to 25 July 2023. Admission to the exhibition is free.
The vernissage will take place on Thursday, 20 July, 5.30 pm, at the Kunsthaus. Interested people are cordially invited to the opening and to visit the exhibition of the two French artists.
Twin towns work together for the first time
The German-French Society Bocholt e.V. initiated the current exhibition with the two French artists. Together with the town of Bocholt and the Euregio Art Circle, this special cultural project is the first time that the neighbouring town of Rhede has cooperated in the area of town twinning. The German-French Friendship Circle in Rhede also supports this cooperation.
Exhibition opening with greetings and music
At the beginning of the exhibition opening, the chairman of the Euregio Art Circle, Klaus Landsmann, will speak. This will be followed by greetings from the Mayor of Bocholt, Thomas Kerkhoff, and the Deputy Mayor of Rhede, Werner Meßing. The President of the German-French Society of Bocholt, Wilfried Flüchter, will introduce the exhibition "Horizons sans frontière - inspirations of town twinning". The opening will be musically framed by the German-French trio "VSO". The trio was formed spontaneously by relatives of the artists and the Bocholt host family.
Artists from Aurillac and La Ferté - Saint-Aubin
The artist Martine Versange comes from the small village of Gioude-Mamou / Cantal with 752 inhabitants in the district of Aurillac. Bocholt and Aurillac celebrated the 50th anniversary of their partnership last year. Eliane Grognet lives in La Ferté - Saint-Aubin, Rhede's French twin town. La Ferté - Saint-Aubin is a town with about 7,200 inhabitants and is located about 30 kilometres south of Orleans. The beginnings of this partnership date back to 1983/84 and were sealed in 1989 with the official conclusion of a town twinning agreement.
